Bacn!!!

Yesterday when I got home I told my wife about the one thing I learned from Podcamp Pittsburgh 2,  BACN!  What is BACN you are asking.  It is the “Email You Want…But Not Right Now.  Why would I tell my wife this you may ask? It is because she is the Executive Director of a large non-profit organization in the county and and deals with email like this every day.  Her first response to my suggestion was “Why?” and then “That makes sense.”

So why am I writing about Bacn and not talking out Podcamp Pittsburgh 2.  It is because I was sitting on the floor watching a brain storming session between Tommy Vallier, Jessie Hambley and Andy Quayle and was amazed that they were able to come up with an  idea, a definition and a whole marketing plan in 15 to 20 minutes for Bacn and from by the looks of it today it may stick.  

Will Bacn be the next big thing since iJustine? Only time will tell.  But I still like my domain idea of WhenZoosExplode.com .

Why do you listen to The NETIO Show?

Most of you know this is, but let me tell you again.

On August 18th I will be speaking at this year’s Podcamp Pittsburgh, the title of my presentation is “From Radio to NETIO”.  The purpose of the presentation is to talk to other podcasters (novice to advanced) about creating and keeping an audience.  This is where I ask for your help.  I would like to know why you listen to The NETIO Show and what keeps you coming back?  I know why I do and how to do it.  I just want to know why you do it.  Please email me your reasoning to Bill (at) TheNETIOShow (dot) com and if you do that I will send you a NETIO bumper sticker (you will also need to send me your mailing address).

Rant and RAVE

Usually I don’t post things that are not related to my program but this time it is different.  (Ok maybe this is…)

I was just listening to a Talkcast on Talkshoe.com dealing with the war in Iraq, the ILLEGAL Immigration problem and Terrorism.

First off, Let me just say we are giving the Terrorist what they want, The USA living in fear. 

( Back ground information: I stopped listenning to tradition “Talk Radio” about two months ago and let me tell you I am much happier. Right now 90% percent of all talk radio is political talk and the other 10% is medical programs trying to sell you something.  I left “full-time” talk radio 1 week prior to 9-11-01.  The reason was because I was not political enough according to the owner.  I was to “feel good” and no one wanted to listen to that. That is when I went back to spinning music.)

2ndly:  Most people get their information from people that have an agenda to push (usually political).  The Americans are living in fear, not because there is something to actually fear, but, because they are being told to fear it from their elected governement and the 24 hour news media.  Right now their are people terrified to go out because then believe what they are told, even though the events they are watching are hundred and thousands miles away.

For example:  Behind me on my TV is one of the 24 news channels talking about a killing of a news editor that was doing a story on a Muslim bakery, in Oakland California.  Of course they are saying it is probably a terrorism related killing.  Why is this a news story?

People get shot and killed every day in the USA and no one is talking about them.  Some of the killing are gang related killings, family disputes, organized crime shotings just  to name a few.  Why are we not discussing these?  It is because the people that are doing these crimes look like us and for some stupid reason we accept this.  It is a only a news story because the person looks differently, act differently  or has different beliefs than the majority of us.  Which we are now are afraid of them.  This is why “Terrorism” works.   We are afraid of the unknown. 

What still strikes me strange is that people like to be scared, if they didn’t they would not be listening to  talk radio.

Some of this probably doesn’t make sense but thanks for letting me rant and rave…..
